6 PRACTICAL WAYS TO REFRESH YOUR HOME

I'm sure I'm not the only one that likes to give the home a bit of an update from time to time. These 6 practical ways to refresh your home should be a help on ways you can give your home a refresh but on a low/no budget.

There are many reasons for having a refresh, maybe it's been awhile since you've done so or you just fancy a change. The great thing is the ideas below either cost you nothing or cost very little to do.

Rearrange your furniture
One of the simplest and no cost ways is to move things around.  It's a great way to refresh and make you feel like you have a brand new room. If you don't have the space to move bigger pieces of furniture around than moving smaller furniture items can make a difference too. The size of our bedroom for example means we can't move our bed but we can move around our chest of drawers and other smaller units we have.

Upcycle furniture
If you have grown tired of your shelves, tables, TV unit or side table, Instead of buying new it's time to Upcycle. You can purchase different types of paint such as chalk paint or spray paint. Pinterest is a great place for finding ways to upcycle furniture. It's definitely something  we need to look into doing.

Buy a new Curtains/Rug/throw/cushions
Decor pieces such as curtains, rugs, throws and cushions can really make a big difference and you don't have to spend a fortune either. Places like The Range and B&M have some great affordable pieces. These types of decor pieces can also be changed up easily depending on the season and your mood. If you feel your home is starring to feeling dull than just add a pop of colourful accessories. Rugs are great for not just adding a splash of colour to a room but they also add extra warmth to the home ideal for winter. Curtains are also great for warmth during the colder months. We've recently added curtains to both the front and back doors.

Replace hardware
It really is amazing what new hardware can do to change the look of your home. It's something that i noticed more once we brought our own home. Some ideas include changing door handles/knobs, draw pulls, hooks, curtain poles, toilet seats and more.

Change light fittings
When was the last time you replaced your lampshade or pendant? I bet you can't remember. When we moved into our home we didn't have lampshades for awhile and as soon as we got some they definitely made a difference. We've recently purchased one for our bedroom which looks great with the colours we went for when we decorated last year. Even the wall light fittings we've opted to change outside our front door and in our attic bedrooms have made a significant difference.

A lick of paint
If you are wanting to update the room and have a bit more funds and time than adding a fresh lick of paint really transforms a room.
