When you have a family the laundry can be like the never ending story and all you want is to see an empty basket. I very rarely see an empty basket in our home however I do like to try and make things easier for us.

I thought I'd share with you some of my tips for making laundry much easier for you too:

Wash children's clothing on a delicate wash
This way their clothing can be kept in near perfect condition. I always make sure to wash Blake's clothing separate from our own.

Color catchers
We use these to stop colors from running especially new clothing and reds and blacks.

Treating Stains
Children's clothing gets so messy and so using products to pre-treat before washing and also for putting in the machine too are a great way to treat stains ASAP.

Not over loading the machine
This is lesson we have learnt as over loading means that clothing may not get washed properly and clothing may also get damaged.

Using a dedicates bag
I use a dedicates bag more often these days to keep my underwear protected. You can also use them to keep socks together in hope of no longer having missing pairs.

Giving your machine a clean
Why not use white Vinegar all you have to do is just pop a slug in your machine and run an empty load every now and again, simple.

Drying your washing in the summer is alot easier than in the colder months this handy post on how to dry clothes quickly inside is really helpful.

The temperature over the past few days has really been starting to drop. Which means autumn is definitely here. This also means that it is time to start having a think about winter proofing your home ready for the colder months to come.  There are some great ways that you can winter proof your home to help keep your home cosy and warm and are easy to do too:

Running a home can be hard work when you have children running around and making mess wherever they go however there are things you can do to help run your home more smoothly.  Designate a play area  We have half of our dining room a place for Blake to play. We have it set up with a soft mat to play on and a bean bag incase he wants to sit and read.  Cover the sofa Using a washable throw is a great idea to protect your sofa from sticky finger marks and it can just be chucked into the washing machine. Tidy as you go along This is a habit that we need to start doing more often as it will save us a lot of time in the long run.

We have been home owners now for almost 2 and a half years. In that time I must admit we have learnt quite a bit. To be able to afford our own home we had to relocate from Bedfordshire to Lincolnshire and we have no regrets as we love the area and we are a train ride away from bigger cities such as Lincoln, Leeds and Sheffield.
